Frequently Asked Questions

My child is French and/or Bilingual. Do you offer services in both official languages?

Yes! Our team is composed of Bilingual (French and English) Speech-Language Pathologists.

Where do the speech therapy sessions take place?

Due to the current COVID-19 pendemic, we are currently only offering services at the Key to Speech clinic located in Orléans. In home, daycares, private schools and/or workplaces are currently on hold until further notice. Speech therapy sessions can also be offered via telepractice, if this modality is recommended by your assigned clinician.

What are the clinic fees for Speech-Language Pathology services?

Our rates for Speech-Language Pathology services are competitive and are well within the fee guideline recommended by the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA). 1 hour assessment session - $140.00 1 hour therapy session - $130.00 Consultation (phone calls, e-mails, teacher meetings, etc.) - $130.00/hour A one hour session consists of direct contact time discussion with parents (as warranted), photocopying, homework, documentation and other session related tasks. A session can therefore finish 10-15 minutes earlier to allow for such services. Please contact us to receive more information regarding our fees and services packages.

Are Speech-Language Pathology services covered by my insurance company?

We do recommend contacting your insurance company prior to your first visit to confirm your coverage. Most insurance companies do cover private speech therapy services, however, the percentage and amount of coverage may vary depending on your insurance plan. Our clinic will provide you with a receipt following each session for insurance purposes.

Do I or my child need to be referred to your clinic by a doctor?

A referral from a doctor is not required, although accepted. Keep in mind that your insurance company may need a referral to cover speech therapy services and therefore it is best to confirm with the insurance company prior to your initial visit. Otherwise, referrals can be made yourself by e-mailing us, calling us or completing our intake form on our "Contact" page.

From juggling school, work, extracurricular activites, homework, and more, we understand that adding speech therapy sessions into your busy schedule can become a tetris game. At Key to Speech, we are working very hard towards offering this innovative approach to our clients! Can you believe we will be the very first clinic to offer Hippotherapy in Ottawa?
